BUILDING DRAWING ASSIGNMENT

The sketch below shows the floor plan of a twin three-bedroom bungalow in the line diagram. Study the given specifications and answer the questions that follow:



FOUNDATION:          675 x 225 concrete strip foundation at a depth of 800 from ground level.

FLOOR:                       200 hardcore; 150 thick concrete floor; 25 cement sand screed.

WALL:                          All walls are 225 hollow sandcrete blocks with 12 renderings on both sides.

LINTEL:                       225 x 225 reinforced concrete.

DOOR:                          All doors are flush wooden. D – 2100 x 900 x 38 in 100 x 50 timber frame.

WINDOWS:                  All windows are sliding-glazed sash in aluminium frames. 

                                       W1 – 800 x 500;                                   

                                       W2 – 1200 x 1100.

ROOF: 30 double pitch with 13 corrugated asbestos sheet; 

              Rafter – 100 x 50 at 1200 centers; Purlins – 100 x 50 at 1000 centers; 

               kingpost and strut – 100 x 50; wall plate – 100 x 75; 

                Tie beam – 100 x 50; 

                Ceiling joist – 50 x 50 at 1200 centers; 

                Floor to ceiling height 3150.

Assume suitable dimensions where necessary

(a) Draw, to a scale of 1:100, the following views of the building:

(i) floor plan;

(ii) left side elevation.

(b) On a scale of 1:50, draw a detailed section P – P of the building.

 MECHANICAL DRAWING. In technical drawing, mechanical drawing is an optional question in WASSCE AND NECO SSCE.  Mechanical drawing has to do with proper understanding of orthographic Projection, isometric insight view of the object as presented in 2 Dimension, sectional views of objects in 2 dimensions, Screws, lock devices and fasteners and assembly of objects.  Most often WAEC will give a brief of how to assemble the given mechanical tool while NECO in most cases does not give a brief. Therefore, it is important that the student learn and practice more on mechanical drawing before attempting it.  TECHNICAL DRAWING (SS 1)  MIDTERM ASSIGNMENT (On an A3 size drawing sheet answer the following questions) 1.  Construct an inclined line of any convenient angle of length 125mm and divide into 10 equal parts. 2. Construct a line AB of length 85mm and bisect at point C. 3. Construct parallel lines of 50mm length with equal distance of 30mm. 4. Construct a triangle XYZ of length XY=YZ=XZ = 60mm. Use XY as the base. What is the name of the triangle you have constructed. 5. Construct a triangle ABC of  lengths AB as the base =75mm, BC= 65mm and AC=65mm.      Measure angles ABC and CAB. What type of  triangle is ABC.
